Mabrey moves into top 25 of threes made in WNBA history, leads Tempo in 93-72 win

TORONTO — Marina Mabrey moved into the top 25 of three-pointers made in WNBA history, and led the Toronto Tempo to a 93-72 victory over the Seattle Storm at Coca-Cola Coliseum on Saturday.

Mabrey scored 18 points in the win, including a trio of three-point baskets, along with three rebounds and four assists in the win.

In the second quarter, Mabrey hit her 463rd triple, a bucket from behind the line, to enter the top 25 in threes made.

Rookie Kiki Rice put up 17 points and four steals in the win. The rookie also went four-for-eight at the field and went a perfect nine-for-nine at the free-throw line, and picked up six rebounds and one assist.

Veteran Brittney Sykes added 15 points in the win for the Tempo (5-4) and Maria Conde scored 13.

Laura Juškaitė finished the day with 14 points, including four threes.
The Storm’s (3-6) Natisha Hiedeman scored a team-high 18 points.

To start the game, the Tempo went on a 10-2 run, eventually ending the first quarter with a 21-13 lead.

The Storm picked up the pace in the second, with Toronto leading them by just one point heading into halftime.

Seattle took the lead at the start of the second half, its first lead of the game since the beginning of the match, but the Tempo went on a 13-2 run at the end of the frame to regain a considerable lead: 14 points heading into the fourth.

The lead would prove insurmountable for the Storm, as Toronto would secure its fifth win of the season 93-72.

The Tempo will face the New York Liberty on Wednesday, in their first-ever game in the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup.
